How Professor Pierre Guerreschi uses Pixacare in his daily clinical practice

At the CHU HealthTech Connection Day in Lille, CHU Média produced a feature on Pixacare — a solution that is changing the way clinical image libraries are managed in hospital settings.

Professor Pierre Guerreschi, Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department at Lille University Hospital, has been using Pixacare since November 2020. With nearly 12,000 photographs recorded in the application, he is an experienced user who has seen first-hand what this technology brings to everyday clinical work.

Pixacare as a daily clinical reflex

Professor Guerreschi outlines the features he relies on most and how he integrates them into his practice.

Straightforward photograph capture: images are taken directly within the application on his smartphone — fast, simple and requiring no additional steps.

Secure hosting: photographs are automatically stored on a certified health data server (HDS), ensuring full data confidentiality and security.

Collaborative sharing: images can be shared with the wider clinical team, making it easier to discuss cases and review documentation during ward rounds and team meetings.

Structured follow-up: the use of keywords allows precise, efficient tracking of clinical cases, simplifying the retrieval and analysis of patient data over time.

Patient involvement: Pixacare gives patients the ability to submit their own photographs remotely, reducing unnecessary hospital visits and improving their overall experience.

A welcome development: video integration

Professor Guerreschi expressed enthusiasm for an upcoming Pixacare feature — the ability to capture and manage clinical videos. Set to be released in the coming weeks at the time of filming, this functionality will allow clinicians to record video of lesions for more complete documentation.

Feature produced by Adrien Morcuende for CHU Média.
